Downtown Smudge is an editorial look built around a hazy, softly diffused brown liner that frames the eyes without a hard edge. The skin stays sheer and satin, and the lips stay quiet so the eyes lead. It reads as relaxed and a little undone, and it works from daytime into evening.

How to create the look
1Prep skin with a light moisturizer and a sheer, satin-finish base, concealing only where needed.
2Draw a soft espresso-brown pencil along the upper lash line, working in short, loose strokes.
3Smudge the line outward with a small brush, then tug a thinner line along the outer half of the lower lashes.
4Press a charcoal-brown shadow over the liner at the outer corner to diffuse the edges.
5Coat the upper lashes with black-brown mascara and brush the brows upward with a clear or tinted gel.
6Blot a muted rosy-nude balm or tint onto the lips with a fingertip.
